ELECTRONICS and ROBOTICS CLUB in DAEGU

CLUBS AND SOCS IN DAEGU
Is anybody interested in an electronics and robotics club?

A message has been placed on the Korea Bridge discussion forum about starting up a new club in Korea:

"I've lived in Korea a bit over 3 1/2 years. I used to do electronics/robotics as a hobby in Canada but I've only recently taken up the hobby again since I finally figured out where to get supplies from. Anyways, I'm just wondering if there are other ex-pats out there that would be interested in forming an electronics/robotics building club.

"I live in Daegu so I'd like to start a club here. I work at university and may be able to access some of the engineering department's resources like lathes, milling machines and PCB making facilities but as a club we could consider getting getting these resources ourselves. If you don't live in Daegu, we could still work on joint projects and share knowledge/ideas.

"So, if you have the time, energy and interest, let me know. Thanks."

Read about this, and add another reply if you are interested, on the Korea Bridge Site:

BOOKS: PILLARS OF THE EARTH by KEN FOLLETT

ADOXIST-STAMPED BOOKS
Pillars of the Earth is a breathtaking, absorbing work. Set in the 1100s, in England, featuring monks and Earls and the rest of it. Very much reminescent of Robert Graves' I Claudius, it is a lesson in economics and history, with loads of politics.

It is being made into a movie this year, according to Wikipedia. So we all wonder which role is to be played by Derek Jacobi? On the other hand, Ken Follett's official website denies that there is any movie at all under consideration. Well, he would know, we suppose, sadly.

FAN DEATH

IN KOREA
Here's a Korea-based controversy that won't quite go away. Can your fan kill you?
The Adoxist Society, for one, refuses to believe this, even though it will make every last effort to make sure the window is never shut when the fan is on...

A GEEK IN KOREA investigates.

DAY of THE BEAST

The Nick of time
By Stephen Tomkins

Be afraid, be very afraid. It is the 6th day of the 6th month of the 6th year (ok, the 2006th year, but disregard that minor distraction) and 666 is the number of the beast. Is it a bad omen or just hype?

WAYS TO GET RICH

Here's a few pointers...

"I think rich men...[understand] how to makes money and [save].
They use a lot [of] money to earn more and more money."

That's a good starting point... have lots of money to start with. And if you don't have lots of money...get it.

KOREAN-FOREIGNER PARTIES IN KOREA

Writers at KBForum attempted to resolve the vexed question recently...are there any?

celticjames May 30 2006, 01:35 AM
hey troops are there any korean/foreigner parties ?? In japan we have GAIJIN parties, wehre japanese and foreigners can meet and mingle .... are there any of these kinda parties in Korea ???

tarantula May 30 2006, 12:27 PM
NO! We (the foreigners) are hermetically sealed in plastic bags at night, and our minders let us out in the daylight to teach English. Sometimes we get cheeseburgers!

Is this for real? Gaijin parties? Give me something here.

augmento May 30 2006, 12:47 PM
they call them hagwon parties here, and the foreigners call themselves "teachers".

celticjames May 30 2006, 10:09 PM Post
yeh dude in japan they have them ! I have been to many !

tarantula May 31 2006, 04:51 AM
Well, then I guess the answer is no, we don't have wayguk parties... unless, of course, my invitation has been getting lost in the mail.

What we do have are bars. I believe that's where most of us do our intermingling.
